Location Artà is located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca, around 60 km from the island's capital, Palma. More than half of the municipal area is occupied by the Massís d'Artà, the highest and most compact massif of the eastern mountain ranges of the Serres de Llevant.
The municipal area is located on the western part of the Artà peninsula and borders the Bay of Alcúdia (Badia d'Alcúdia) to the west and the open Mediterranean Sea to the north, opposite the neighboring island of Menorca.
For tourists Artà offers many possibilities. The coastal region of the municipality is of particular interest. The sandy beach s'Arenal de sa Canova with extensive dunes is located directly on the border to the municipality of Santa Margalida in the district of Son Serra de Marina. A coastal hiking trail leads along it to the urbanization s'Estanyol near Colònia de Sant Pere. Further east between s'Estanyol and es Caló are steep cliffs and alternating gorges with small sandy beaches. The north of the municipality is dominated by the Massís d'Artà with the elevations of Puig Morei (561 m), Puig de sa Tudossa (444 m) and Talaia Moreia (432 m).
