Location At the heart of the Son Servera municipality, Son Servera is in the northeast of Mallorca in an area known as the Llevant. The village is known to have been in existence since the 13th century and believed by some to have been named after the deer that once roamed this area.
Recently, a bypass has opened around Son Servera – through which traffic used to pass on its way to the coast – so fewer visitors are seeing the small town, except perhaps on Friday morning, for the market.
Golfers will associate the name of the town with the local golf course: Son Servera Golf is Mallorca’s second oldest course and opened in the 1960s as a nine-hole course but, in 2012, has been expanded to 18 holes. The additional golf courses of Canyamel and Capdepera are also easily accessible from here.
The municipality of Son Servera includes the popular resort of Cala Millor, a long sandy beach located between the smaller resort of Cala Bona and the protected natural area of Sa Punta de n’Amer. Cala Millor’s Sa Màniga Auditorium is a venue for cultural performances, such as ballet, theatre and music.
